JAST 30: Fall 2009 - ECOCRITICISM ISSUE
Published in fall 2009, the 30th issue of the Journal of American Studies of Turkey focuses entirely on ecocriticism. The edition opens with a conservation manifesto by Scott Russell Sanders and an interview with Terry Tempest Williams. The essays tackle environmental justice and nature writing. François Specq analyzes Henry David Thoreau, and Jean-Daniel Collomb examines John Muir’s approach to technology. Other writers look at modern fiction. Alexa Weik von Mossner writes about environmental racism in Percival Everett’s Watershed, while Yanoula Athanassakis discusses globalization in Tropic of Orange. Ufuk Özdağ provides a broad essay on the discipline. The issue wraps up with poetry by Shirley Geok-lin Lim and several book and film reviews.
