Bu makale, T.E. Lawrence'in mirasının, özellikle David Lean'ın 1962 yapımı "Lawrence of Arabia" filmi aracılığıyla Orta Doğu'daki Amerikan askeri stratejisi ve dış politikasına olan sürekli etkisini analiz etmektedir. Makale, Lawrence'in mirasının nasıl Amerika Savunma Bakanlığı'nın gizli operasyonları ve karşı gerilla taktiği gibi savunma stratejilerinde benimsenmiş olduğunu, "Quadrennial Defense Review Report" ve "Counterinsurgency Field Manual" gibi önemli belgelerdeki referanslarla kanıtlamaktadır. Yazar, Lawrence'in mitolojisinin Lowell Thomas'un konferansları ve biyografileri aracılığıyla şekillendirilmiş olduğunu ve bu mitin Anglo-Amerikan müdahalecilik algılarını şekillendirmedeki rolünü savunmaktadır. Bu çalışma, Soğuk Savaş döneminde dekolonizasyon ve sonrasında Birleşik Krallık ve Amerika'nın Orta Doğu'daki müdahalelerinin bağlamında filmin siyasi önemi hakkında incelemektedir. Filmi ve onun alımını yakından incelerken, makale, Lawrence'in anlatısı'nın askeri müdahaleleri haklı çıkarmak ve romantikleştirmek için nasıl kullanıldığını göstermektedir, rağmen bunların genellikle çözülememiş gerginlikler ve kararsızlıklar üretmiş olmasına rağmen.
