This editorial reflects on the profound impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on academic publishing and societal dynamics. As we embarked on our tenure as Editor and Editor-in-Chief of the esteemed Journal of Applied Sciences and Technology (JAST) in early 2020, we were filled with enthusiasm to contribute to the field while upholding the journal's tradition of excellence. However, the global health crisis swiftly disrupted our plans and challenged us to adapt to an evolving landscape. The pandemic necessitated an urgent shift in mindset as we faced unparalleled circumstances that demanded flexibility and resilience. In this editorial, we discuss the implications of the 21st century's emphasis on adaptation and the importance of developing coping mechanisms in times of crisis. Despite the ongoing uncertainties, JAST has successfully published two Special Issues during these turbulent times, underscoring the journal's commitment to continued growth and relevance.References
